OAK will empower Oakland residents to spend crypto-enabled community currency locally with their favorite merchants.
Strategy
We onboard both merchants and residents with crypto tools, enabling fast, cheap, and smooth peer-to-peer transactions. The foundation of USDC payments allows us to introduce a USDC-backed local currency in the coming months. Once we have a successful first pilot, we will expand this program to larger citywide merchant pop ups and eventually brick and mortar business clusters to touch 20k+ Oaklanders.
